The type of critical questioning required by students that is highlighted by this reading does not 'grow on trees'. What needs to be understood is that schools who ignore the new literacies and the new information literacy that is required by the ICTs that students face are not giving them the skills they need to operate in research and communication, learning how to learn needs to be an explicit part of these new literacies.
